Job Description
Position Summary:
The Proposal Specialist is responsible for the bidding process regarding complex issues including IT services, solutions, design or manufacturing services. You will manage the bidding process from initial contact through contract signing, with emphasis on establishing the trading terms. You will validate and endorse the technical solution and signs off on bids and proposals.. You will report to the Manager, Proposal Development, North America and have a hybrid schedule working based at our branch office in Monterrey - MEX.
Your Responsibilities:
- Must be capable of multi-tasking, planning and delegating when possible in order to meet customer established timelines for approved project pursuits. This would include creating accurate budgetary ROMs with-in working days of opportunity identification including entire scope.
- Work with sales and channel (distributors) to strategize on opportunities as well provide input to increasing successes through the Win Strategy process.
- Support by contributing to training classes for the channel teams and Regional Proposal Specialists to increase their abilities to handle standard product quotes themselves, leaving only the most complex for the Proposal Development Team.
- Responsible for taking all measures that will ensure the successful outcome of the assigned projects.
- Requires the ability to collaborate and lead exceptionally well in a cross functional environment both commercially and technically. Engagement would include but not be limited to other Proposal Development team members, Sales Offices, Channel Partners, RA Business Units, Contracts and Negotiations.
- Employ commercial and technical skills and creativity to maximize RA profit and growth opportunities while negotiate internally and externally leveraging sound understanding of cost, value and profit margin to establish pricing with approvals.
- Be proficient to obtain approvals in compliance with Rockwell policies including executive level approvals.
- Maintain business tools on a daily basis as opportunities evolve. For direct engagements report important activities such as Forecasting, communications directly with customers as needed for the projects.
- Actively seek out and participate in continuous improvement, through feedback, formal and informal training opportunities that will address identified gaps as well as further strengthening skills required for the role.
- Build collaborative relationships with our key stakeholders and integrators in order to be successful with integration of complete solutions.
- Be the technical expert for Medium Voltage Drives, Medium Voltage Motor Control Centers. Knowledge of Low Voltage Motor Control Centers is a bonus.
- Be able to support proposals with customers while instilling confidence for the solution.
- Apply engineering skills to perform engineering analysis to help qualify our equipment in the application. Network internally to understand and apply product synergies.
- Responsible for following all applicable corporate, company, governmental and regulatory policies and procedures as appropriate for this position.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- BS in Engineering discipline or equivalent knowledge.
- Willing to travel up to 10%.
- Good knowledge of industrial products and applications.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Able to work in cross-regional team.
- Demonstrated technical communication and documentation skills in order to clearly develop proposals, convey project status updates, design information, technical issues/resolutions, and complete project milestone reviews.
- Demonstrated customer (internal and external) relationship skills.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- Prefer five or more years of experience with Electrical systems and installation.
- Experience with Prefabricated Modular Buildings, Single Line Drawings, motors, switchgear, transformers, and PLCs.
- Basic understanding of Packaged Power Systems.
- Previous sales experience.
