EDG IncJobSummary:
The Structural Engineer is responsible forthe structural design of steel and concrete structuresrelated to marine terminals, industrial, bulk material handling, process,petrochemical, refinery and oil & gas facilities. This includes marine docks, foundations,retaining walls, structural steel platforms, bents and towers, steel buildings,as well as modification to existing structures and deep/shallow foundationsystems. This involves computermodeling, using software such as RISA and/or SACS, of structures fromconceptual engineering through construction. This also includes coordinating with and directing Designers andDrafters of structural and other disciplines to accomplish project tasks.
JobDuties and Responsibilities:
• Overall responsibility for project scope andresponsible for ensuring deliverables meet technical and contractualrequirements;
• Prepare, monitor and review the designsdeveloped by other engineers working on project during different stages of thedesign, provide guidance and direction and may assign work and tasks to civilengineers based on engineer's abilities, project scope and schedule;
• Review designs against client providedspecifications as well as all applicable local and industry codes andstandards;
• Present design to client;
• May act as final approver of the documents anddrawings for issuance and seal of documents prior to issuance for construction;
• Develop cost time resource including determiningengineering and drafting requirements based on project scope and schedule;
• Prepare, review and/or approve project designbasis;
• Initiate, manage or lead projectmeetings/communications with clients;
• Attend project discussions/internal meetingswith other disciplines;
• May be responsible for project permitting toinclude assisting with permit applications and managing/leading projectmeetings with certifying agencies;
• Lead dock inspection and assessments;
• Analyze dock inspection results, determinerecommendations, and create report;
• Assist with review of construction documents andconstruction submittals;
• Reviews operational procedures to ensurecompliance with applicable policies and performance measures and may developstandards and guidelines;
• Serves as the technical specialist for theorganization in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methodsin an assigned area;
• Keeps informed of new developments andrequirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changesin programs or applications.
Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Basicor Minimum Qualifications
• Requires BS degree in Civil Engineering,Marine Engineering, or Ocean Engineering;
• For candidates with engineering degrees attainedoutside the U.S., the candidate must have attained an E.I.T. designation from aU.S. based state licensing board;
• Requires ten (10) or more years' experience inengineering design related to job duties and responsibilities;
• Requires familiarity with total projectsystems to include mechanical, structural, civil and electrical components toallow considerations of those aspects into a project or design area;
• Requires previous experience with RISA, Staad,and/or SACS;
• Requires strong written and verbalcommunication skills;
• Requires availability and ability to travel toclient sites and work overtime as needed based on project;
• Requires the availability and ability to workon multiple projects simultaneously;
• Requires the ability to interact with staff atall levels;
• P.E. license required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supervising and/or directing thework of drafters and other engineering support staff preferred;
• Experience with OPTIMOOR software.
WorkingConditions:
• Work is conducted in an office environment(Private or Semi-Private Office) and requires occasional travel to off-sitework locations;
• Interaction with other team members as well assupervisor and client personnel;
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis to obtaining project field data or attend project meetings;
• Field duties may require outdoor work in aplant, facility or terminal environment which may include working in plant orshop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;
• Field duties require outdoor work in a plant orconstruction atmosphere;
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes.

• Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20)pounds;
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing orother communication capabilities which permits employee to communicateeffectively;
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
• Sufficient vision or other powers of observationwhich permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
• Sufficient manual dexterity which permit theemployee to perform routine office duties;
• Sufficient personal mobility and physicalreflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-sitelocations.
