Qualifications
This role leads a small team of billing associates and provides guidance and support to the billing team, serving as a resource, mentor, and point of escalation. This role also serves as a technical specialist and participates in process improvement efforts.
This role works independently, with minimal supervision, applying advanced knowledge and the ability to evaluate and propose adaptations to standard methodologies and procedures for non-routine issues. Problems faced are typically difficult and complex, often requiring decision-making, independent judgment, and innovative problem-solving. This role also regularly communicates information requiring explanation and/or interpretation that is of a sensitive nature.
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Lead a small team of billing associates, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, development conversations, and productivity management.
- Partner with the Billing Manager and Finance leadership to identify opportunities for process efficiencies and training. Aids in process improvement efforts and assists in the development of policies and training.
- Serve as a technical specialist who develops and applies advanced concepts and approaches to more challenging assignments.
- Serve a resource for questions and escalations. Reviews work completed by less experienced billing associates and provides technical guidance and mentorship. May assign tasks to junior and support staff.
- Provide all aspects of billing support, including setting up billing terms in the system, preparing and providing invoices, reviewing project labor and expense charges, monitoring project accounts receivable, and assisting with collection efforts.
- Partner with project management across the firm to enhance collaboration, smooth hand-offs, and efficiencies.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a relevant field.
- Minimum of five years of experience as a billing associate or a combination of education and experience.
- Must possess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel.
- Must possess advanced organizational, prioritization, and oral and written communications skills. Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with others.
- Proven ability to successfully address challenging or potentially controversial issues in a sound, professional, and business-like manner.
- Knowledge of Deltek Vision is preferred but not required
